I've been to this cafe a few times now for brunch and lunch, and in my opinion it's one of Osaka's best brunch spots. The menu has plenty of options - both sweet and savoury and there are always some vegetarian options available.
The shrimp sandwich you see was absolutely massive. I ended up taking half of it home with me and eating it for dinner, as I couldn't finish it at lunch time. Due to the size of the sandwich it was a bit difficult to eat and quite messy, so keep that in mind if you're going there on a first date ;) On the other hand, the berry pancakes were great - fluffy souffle pancakes with lots of berries, whipped cream and syrup.
This cafe is located over two floors, each with their own menu, so check the menu outside carefully before being seated. The meals you see in this blog post were from the first floor cafe, which has both indoor and outdoor seating. The upper floor has indoor seating only, so if you plan to sit outside be sure to get a table on the ground floor.
I suggest sitting out on the terrace and enjoying the view of the river and gardens across the river, although the view from the inside isn't bad either.
Once you've finished eating why not walk across the bridge and explore Nakanoshima Park and Rose Garden? If you're in the area to cafe hop, be sure to check out Brooklyn Roasting Company and Garb Weeks, which are both close by.
Please note: Northshore doesn't accept cash, so you'll need to pay by card.
