Donuts You'll Fall in Love With | The City Donuts and Coffee, Kobe | Japan

This store has only been open for a little over a year, but has quickly become very popular. They offer lots of fun donut flavours, some of which you can see in the pictures below. I'm not sure how often the flavours change or if they're on some kind of rotation schedule, but I'm keen to try them all. On my next visit I hope to try the fruity cereal (as it reminds me of a favourite cereal from my childhood), or the pistachio (who doesn't love pistachio sweets?)

The peanut butter and jam donut was soft and fluffy and filled with plenty of blueberry jam. The peanut butter icing with peanut bits sprinkled on top matched the jam nicely. I can definitely see why people say that City Donuts has the best donuts in all of Kansai... They might be right!

There isn't a lot of seating available at this store, but take-out is available for the donuts and coffee. I'm honestly already planning my next visit!

Visiting Kobe from out of town just to buy donuts from City Donuts is probably a bit over the top, so why not make a day of it?

If you're looking for other things to do in Kobe, I recommend walking down to Meriken Park, which is a grassy area by the ocean, and a lovely place to relax your tired legs. In terms of sightseeing Nunobiki Herb Gardens and Ropeway is popular with locals and tourists alike, and it gives you the chance to see Kobe from up above. If you're interested in visiting a temple, the most popular in the area is Ikuta Jinja.

In terms of food in Kobe, many locals like to visit Kobe Nankimachi/Chinatown, but in all honesty I preferred the street food in Chinatown instead of the food I ate at a restaurant when I was there - although maybe I just didn't pick very well! Lastly, I have to recommend a great bakery called Isuzu Bakery. They have a couple of locations in Kobe, so pop the name into Google Maps and see if there's one close by.

I will try the peanut butter icing one. Maybe the almond pretzel too. 😉 Maybe the cookies and cream. Maybe I'll just have to have 1 of each.
