Direct Coffee is located close to the popular Teramachi shopping arcade in Kyoto city. If you've ever been on a trip to Kyoto, you've likely walked down this arcade, and probably even purchased a souvenir or two to take home with you.
There was a good selection of sweets at this store, some of which are were display in the cabinet. When I asked about one of the sweets that wasn't on display, the staff was kind enough to show me a photo of the item on the store's tablet, and explain a little about the item.
Aside from the lovely presentation, the strawberry mille-feuille pastry was very crunchy and crumbly, which I was happy about - there's nothing worse than soggy pastry! Please be aware that the strawberry mille-feuille pictured here is a seasonal item, and may not be on the menu when you visit. The store is pretty good at updating their Instagram page, so you should be able to find updates seasonal offerings there.
According to the store's Instagram page and store signage, they also offer vegan sweets, and coffee based cocktails, which I'd love to try one afternoon.
Not everything at this cafe is vegan, so be sure to check with the staff before ordering.
Strawberry mille-feuille served with a scoop of Earl Gray ice-cream, and an iced cafe latte.
